I have to run 9 miles tonight when I get home. Thank goodness the weather is so nice. I can probably run as soon as I get home.
But on a scarier note, the half marathon is less than two weeks away. 13 days away to be exact...oh my goodness.....
It doesn't matter how much time you have in the day, it never seems to be enough...I hope you enjoy reading all my silly rants. :)

Just Dommie and Mommy!
This weekend Nick went out of town for a golf tournament with my family. They do it every year. Last year, I basically moved in with my mom since I was pregnant and didn't want to be alone for 3 days. This year I decided to stay put since my mom had plans on Saturday and I had plans Friday and Saturday night in the city.
It was an adventure to say the least. Taking care of a 7 month old by yourself for three days is no easy feat. And I tip my hats to all the single parents out there. I have NO idea how you do it, day in and day out. I thought 3 days was a challenge.
Dommie and I went to the zoo Friday night and had a blast. After the zoo, Annie and Mike came back to my house and we hung out for a bit. Putting Dom down on Friday wasn't too bad, but I stayed up very late and had lots of wine. So Saturday morning was a challenge. We got up early Saturday and played and then after Dom's morning nap, we went to my mom's house and hung out with her and her two sisters and her mom. They were having a girls weekend and I barged in for part of it.
It was a lot of fun. They had lunch (which was delicious) and then my aunt June taught us all about stamping and making home made cards. It was so neat! And she gave my mom a bunch of stuff! I think I'm going to start getting into it too! It's so cool to personalize a card for a friend. It's an expensive hobby though. But I figure if Nick can have golf, I can have stamping!
After card making, Dom and I went back home to get ready for my friend's couples shower. Dom and I got dressed up and went over to her parents house. It was a lot of fun, but Dommie wasn't having it. We only stayed for about an hour and a half and then went home. As soon as we got home, Dom was wide awake again. We stayed up until about 9:30 and then went to bed.
Sunday, Dom was up bright and early again. We got up and played and just hung out at the house. Nick called around 2 to say he was about an hour and a half away. I was so excited to hear that. I love Dommie and he is such a good baby but I was ready for a break. And a nap!
When Nick got home, we got ready and went to Nick's mom's house for dinner. It was a nice relaxing night, and an early night. We were home by 8. That was nice because then I got to go to bed early.
It was a great weekend, and I loved hanging out with Dommie by myself but I am so glad Nick is home. Dommie and I really missed having Da-da around!

Jungle Boogie!
Friday night I went to Jungle Boogie at the zoo! My sister and her family came too. So did my mom, my cousin Annie, and my friend Mike. We got a table and brought some beer and wine and just listened to the music. Our friend Eric has a band and they were playing. Their band is Tiny Cows and they are amazing.
It rained for a bit but then settled down and was a beautiful night. Dom LOVED the music. He was smiling and had a really good night. We got to see the bears and sea lions and peacocks. We mainly stayed in the concert area but the bears were so cool to watch so we wandered for a bit.
It was so nice to do something so fun for so little! St. Louis is full of fun, free activities and I never take advantage of them. Going to the zoo was a lot of fun and we had a great time!

Hu...Hu...WHO?!?!
Hubert Keller!!
Does anyone know who that is?? He is a chef and I first heard of him while watching Top Chef a few years back. He was a guest judge and they raved about him and his cooking. Then when Lumiere Place was built in St. Louis, I found out that Hubert Keller was the chef behind the Burger Bar and Sleek Steakhouse.
Then, a few weeks ago I saw that there was a Top Chef Masters Show on Bravo (I'm crazy addicted to Top Chef) so I figured I'd like the Masters as well. Hubert Keller was on there. He did great. He made it to the Finale. The top 3. He was amazing to watch and was always so nice and seemed like a great person to know. They mentioned St. Louis a few times and he represented our city well.
Last Friday, one of our vendors took us to the Burger Bar at Lumiere Place. Our vendor, John, is a big fan of Hubert Keller's too. He was so excited to go there and eat something that Hubert Keller created. I was joking around with him that he should ask if Hubert was working and if we could meet him. We didn't think there was anyway he would be here. He has two restaurants in Las Vegas. Why would he be in St. Louis??
Well, right after we got our food, I looked up and Hubert Keller was walking through the restaurant! I yelled to John to look and he was so excited too. When Hubert was walking back to the kitchen, my boss stood up and told him it was nice to meet him. Hubert came over to our table and shook all of our hands and we talked for a minute. He thanked us for coming in and was SO nice. It was so cool! One of my favorite chefs from one of my favorite shows!

So grown up
Every morning when Dom wakes up, he plays for a little bit on his own before crying to get up or to eat. So we lay in bed and take our time waking up too. Well lately when he wakes up he starts talking a lot. He has learned "Da-Da". He doesn't know it means anything yet. He's not referring to Nick specifically when he says it, but he knows we smile and say it back so it's a new favorite thing. When we go in to check on him, he's standing in his crib with his arms holding the bars and grabbing his mobile that hangs above the bed.
I can't believe he can do all of these things already!?!? He can crawl, pull himself to standing, hold his own bottle, say things that make sense (kind of...) it's just too crazy. I would bet that he'll be walking before he's 10 months old. I don't know why but I think he'll be walking soon. He's so eager to get places and when he's at daycare, he's one of the only ones who doesn't walk.
My little man and I are on our own this weekend. Nick is going out of town with most of the men in my family for a golf tournament. I hope he's a big grown up boy all weekend and we have zero problems...especially since I still don't have a cell phone yet!!

New Trick
Dommie has a new trick! He can WAVE! It's not a hand wave, it's a full fledged arm motion but it's a wave. At first he was doing this all the time and had no idea what it meant. But now he's doing it back when we wave to him. Big boy!
I don't have a picture of him waving. But I have an adorable picture of him just being cute...so I'll post that one for ya's!

Amazing Feeling!
I ran 8.3 miles last night! I did it! Without stopping. And in just over 10-1/2 minute miles! Go me!! :-)
Nick made me run (I love and hate that man all at the same time) and I was running out of spite. He said I couldn't do the half marathon. So I was proving him wrong. And I ran hard. And long. When I got back to the house he was on the front steps and apologized and then I had to thank him for making me run...again.
But no matter what the reason was that I went, I still went! And I did it.
I'm so happy! Only a few more weeks and I'll be running the half marathon! And then I'll really feel proud! YAY!
(I apologize for all of the exclamation points....I am excited)
