Baptism

Well it's over. Dominick is officially a part of the Catholic Church! I was so stressed out getting everything ready for Sunday. I know Nick and Mike were too since they were doing basically everything and I was just cleaning. But it's over and it turned out great. The food was good and the cake was good and Dominick was good. Lisa took a TON of pictures for us and they turned out great (thanks Lisa!) but I haven't put them on the computer yet. So for now I will just show you the card that my sister made Dominick. It's hilarious.

My sister is getting really really good at photo shop and she made this card for Dom. I think it is so good and funny! It's definitely going into his baby book. And fyi: my Grandfather's "Lady Friend" starting calling Dom "Nicky Bob" (for Dominick Robert) and I'm NOT a fan of that nickname so of course my sister and her husband, Andrew, like to call him that all the time now! I guess I can't fight it!

Happy Baptism Nicky Bob!! :)

Dom's Big Night

Today Dominick is officially three months old! Happy Birthday Dom!

Last night our friend, Mike, invited us to the Cards game. We told him that we could come but we'd have to bring Dom. Mike said he wanted Dom to come. So we packed him all up and headed to the game, completely open to the fact that we'd probably have to leave early because Dom would be fussy.

Dominick did AMAZING! He didn't cry at all. He just looked around a lot and took a few naps. We got some great pictures but until our computer at the house is hooked up I can't upload them.

He was good and we had such a great time. I'm so glad we know he can be good at games now. We might have a busy summer ahead of us now!!

Work, work, work!

Nick and I have been working like crazy to get the house in PERFECT condition for Dominick's big baptism celebration this weekend. We've enlisted Dom's godfather, Mike, to help too. Mike's been great. Helping every night.

I keep promising pictures, but I haven't taken any of the basement yet. I'm waiting for the finished product! That will be sometime before Sunday I hope.

Last night I got the upstairs all clean and Nick and Mike finished laying the tile. Now all that's left to do with that is the grout! Then it will be perfect and done. Nick also started fixing the entertainment center (which has been halfway done for 2 1/2 years now!).

Today is a slow day with the remodel. We have baptism class tonight so we won't get much done. My goal is to get the office and guest room cleaned up and buy frames for the pictures that we are hanging downstairs.

Then tomorrow is back to work, full force. Lots of cleaning and working on the bar/basement.

The finishing the house countdown has begun! 5 more days!!

Sleeping

Also, I forgot to mention that one of the best things about this first work week was how well Dom has been sleeping! Every night (except one) since Saturday Dom has gone down to bed between 9:30 and 11:00 p.m. and slept until 6:30 to 7:30 a.m.

Yay for sleep!

My first week

Well my first official week back at work is over. Right now I am only working Monday through Thursday 9am to 1pm. It's a good transition from being at home with my baby to going back to the business world. Next week is the same schedule and then hopefully I'm back full time on April 27.

It was a good week. I really like Ms. Stella (Dom's babysitter). She is so great with the kids. She has a lot of kids every day too. I don't know how she does it. At first I was nervous about her having so many and taking care of my baby but she is amazing. She has it down to an art. The kids are so well behaved there too. I'm very glad that Dom is going to be in an environment that I love so much.

I was able to make the transition pretty well too. Work is going great. I am caught up on everything and feel really good about being back. I'm also doing well with being away from Dom. Granted it's only for 5 hours a day but I was nervous at first and now it just makes it better when I see him.

Not that I didn't love him to pieces before, but I used to be so excited for Nick to come and help me with Dom. And I was so excited for Dom to take a nap so I could relax or get some stuff done. But now, when I pick him up after work I just want to hold him and play with him and look at him. We do tummy time and play on the activity mat and all kinds of things while we are at home together.

It's been a great week. And to end my first work week, Nick and I are going with Angela and Andrew to see Bill Maher at the Fox tonight! I'm excited!

Back to Work

Today was my first day back to work since December 28! I was put on best red at the end of December after a few times in the hospital with contractions, so I had been off of work for awhile. I was so nervous to go back...for multiple reasons.

1) I was afraid I wouldn't remember how to do my job! I wanted to do a good job and was afraid that I'd be a bad worker after being off so long.

2) I didn't want to leave my baby for a day! I was looking forward to work because I wanted to see people again. And not just Nick (though I love you babe!).

I missed Dom a lot. More than I thought I would. But I'm only working part time right now and that's a good transition. I'm working M-Th 9-1 so it's not too long to be away from my baby.

The best part about leaving him today was picking him up. When I went to get him he was playing in an activity vibrating seat. He was playing and talking and then I went to pick him up and he just smiled at me. He kept staring at me and smiling and it made me feel so incredibly wonderful. We left Miss Stella's and went to the grocery store and he smiled and stared at me almost the whole time! I'm so glad that he did good at day care and I'm even more glad that he is at the point where he knows who I am and he loves me! It made me feel so great.

Hopefully I'll be able to do as well tomorrow. I hope I get the same beautiful smile when I pick him up again tomorrow!

Easter - day 2

So Easter yesterday was a busy day but it was good. In the morning we did brunch with my Dad's family at our country club, Glen Echo. I love their food so much. It was delicious. And Dom was pretty good the whole day! He definitely had his moments where he was fussy but all in all he did good. He was in the cutest outfit too! He had on a little collared shirt with a sweater vest and khaki pants. So cute. I have a few pictures but again, not on this computer yet! I'll upload them soon.

Then in the afternoon we went to my mom's mom's house...did that make sense? My Grammie's house. Again, delicious food! And again, Dom was so good! I was very impressed with how good he was and how easily we were able to pass him around the family without him fussing. Grandma gave him Dom an Easter egg that had some money in it so we'll have to put that in his little piggy bank.

It was a great first holiday weekend with Dom! I can't wait until the next big holiday! Memorial Day and Fourth of July...We'll see how Dom does in a swimming pool!

Easter - Day 1

Today we had Easter on Nick's side. We went to his brother, John and Lisa's house. It was also our neice, Addison's 3rd birthday party. It was a good party with excellent food. It was so fun to go over there for Easter because they did an Easter egg hunt in their basement. All the kids had such a good time! Lisa's mom helped Dominick get an egg and she took a picture of him with it (Lisa-I'm going to need a copy of that picture!). After the hunt, everyone handed out their Easter baskets. Those kids made a haul! Dominick got a basket from the Eichhorn's (Kate, Dave, Sophia, Henry and Jilly), and the Westerheide's (John, Lisa, Kailey and Addison), and Nani! He got some fun stuff to play with when he's older, along with a few books, a new outfit, a stuffed animal and some candy which he gracioiusly gave to his Daddy. I have a cute picture of him in his adorable outfit from cousins Kate, Dan and Matthew, where he's sitting with all his baskets, but I don't have it on the computer yet. So you'll have to wait to see that picture...I'll try to upload it tomorrow sometime.

Happy Easter everyone and thanks to everyone for Dominick's baskets! They were so cute!!

Working out

So today I got really motivated. Don't ask me why!

I started by sorting all Dominick's 0-3 month clothes. My sister has a friend who is having a baby boy in July and I offered to let her borrow all Dom's old clothes. I'm definitely going to need it back because we will have more kids and hopefully one of them will be another boy and I'm hoping that my sister in law, Christy, gets pregnant soon with a little boy. It was kind of sad boxing it all up. I have a big cardboard box full of stuff. Some of the clothes Dominick never even wore! It made me sad that he is getting so big that he's already out of some of his clothes, but it means we are moving on to the next stage of his life and we can look forward to babbling, rolling over, crawling, etc. I'm looking forward to that.

After I finished re-organizing his old clothes and all his 3-6 month clothes that he's wearing now, I decided to go through my clothes and box up all my maternity clothes. A lot of clothes my sister in law, Kate, gave me. I put all those in the tubs she gave me for next time I'm pregnant or when Christy gets pregnant. Then I organized the stuff I bought and stuff my sister let me borrow for the next time one of us gets pregnant (or Christy. I'm sure my sister would let her borrow her stuff too, but my sister and I are a lot taller than Christy).

After getting all the maternity clothes together, it made me realize that a lot of the clothes in my closet, I can't fit into anymore! So I went through all my stuff and cleaned out a bunch of old clothes. I put in all into a bag for goodwill. Then I put all the folded laundry away and cleaned out our whole closet.

After all that, I realized taht I don't fit in a lot of stuff and I should be working out more. So I went downstairs and got out my favorite work out DVD. 8 minute Abs and Arms. I did the 8 minute arms workout and then did a bonus workout. 20 minute kickboxing. Holy cow that was hard! The arms were a little tough but I could handle the 8 minutes. The 20 minute kickboxing...not so much. I finished it, but I am already so sore!!

I'm going to try and make this whole working out thing a routine! I need my body back!!

2 month check-up

Dominick had his 2 month check up today. He's actually 2 1/2 months now but this was the earliest we could get in. Here are some highlights from the appointment.

He is a BIG boy! He weighs 15 pounds and is 25 inches long. He is in the 97th percentile for weight and the 95th percentile for height. I asked if that was bad and we were feeding him too much and she said no. He just isn't moving too much yet and when he does he'll start losing weight. His little peanut head is still just in the 48th percentile. But Nick has a small head and so do I so it's no real surprise that Dom's head is small.

Also, Dom has reflux. It doesn't bother him at all so there's no medicine to give him. The medicine just treats the acid and the discomfort, and he doesn't have that. He just spits up all the time. She also warned me that it will get much worse before it gets better since he'll be moving around more. That will cause more and more to come up. Great. Something to look forward to! She recommended putting rice cereal in his bottle because that will thicken the formula and help keep it down. However this comes will a price. He will have all those extra calories and he'll get even bigger! But she said that is normal and not to worry about that.

Finally, I brought up how we are concerned slightly about his hearing. She noticed it too. She said it's nothing to be concerned about yet, but we need to keep an eye on how he reacts to sounds and maybe have a second hearing test done. He doesn't respond to loud noises or people's voices yet. So we'll keep an eye out.

Other than that, he is doing great. He is healthy as a horse and smiling and coo-ing great.

Oh I forgot about the dreaded shots. He had to have two today. He screamed so much. It broke my heart. Such a sweet baby boy. He'll have to have two again at his four month appointment. Hopefully he'll be a little more used to it by then and not get so upset. I hate seeing him so upset.

And that's really it from his appointment!

NCAA Final Results

Well, I don't have the numbers in front of me but I can tell you for certain that my Mom lost and my Dad won!

Nick was in second, me in third and then Angela and finally Andrew.

I can't wait to see where Mom decides to take us all for dinner!! Yum!

Not so upset

Nick is not mad at me anymore. I joined him up for Facebook yesterday morning and this afternoon he already has 40 friends. He's Mr. Popular I guess! So anyway, I was forgiven and he loves it already, just like I knew he would.

On a different note, Nick and I are going to the Incarnate Word Academy auction tonight! I'm so excited!! We usually go every year and we couldn't go last year since it was the same day as Ashley's wedding (which was more fun I'm sure!) so I'm really excited to go this year.

I don't think we'll buy much, if anything, since we have so many house projects going on and we have Dom's baptism coming up (have to buy a bunch of food and stuff) but still auctions are fun!

I'll update tomorrow and let you know if we got anything. Aunt Christy and Uncle Rob are watching Dom tonight. He's been pretty fussy lately so I hope he's a good boy and doesn't deter them from every wanting kids!

Facebook

Since I'm at home I've been checking facebook a lot more recently. Nick is usually looking over my shoulder and asking to see people's pages and pictures, etc. So today I decided to add him to Facebook for himself. He has his own page now and I even requested some friends for him. The problem is though, Nick always said he'd never join...so I'm hoping that he won't be pissed at me when he finds out I did this! I even added some of his work friends, so I really hope he doesn't find out he's on facebook from them before I can tell him! I'll let you know how it goes. I bet he ends up loving it...I guess time will tell.

Professional Pictures!!!

I'm SO excited because we just got our professional pictures delivered!! I absolutely love them all! And we bought the BIG package to get the copyrighted CD with it, so here are some of my favorites!

I am so impressed with all of these pictures. They did a great job. Dominick was fussing the WHOLE time we did pictures but she managed to catch him at all the perfect times so he looks like an angel!

We're getting there!

The carpet is down and some of the walls are painted! We're getting there. A few more days and I'll bet the main part of the basement is finished...We'll still have to wait on the tile and Nick and Mike are doing, but that's ok. Woohoo! Progress!

Tonight we're taking a break because it's Happy Hour time!

My girlfriends and I meet up the first Wednesday of every month for Happy Hour. Well this month is special because my work just finished paying off a really annoying "loan" and they want to go out and celebrate too. So we're doing a big joint happy hour party tonight! Nick's mom is watching Dom and Nick and I are celebrating. $5 Martinis: Here I come!
