Now we're walking

Dominick is a walking machine! And he LOVES it.

Last night, Nick was sitting on the couch and I was sitting on the other side of the room on the floor playing with Dom. He was whimpering and reaching for Nick so I helped Dom stand up and he walked completely across the room to Nick, laughing the whole way! It was about 12-15 steps! Then he just laughed and laughed until Nick helped him stand up to walk to me. Then he would do it again, although never taking as many steps to me before falling face first and crawling the rest of the way.

Nick said he liked walking to Daddy better, but I think it's really that he was trying to get to me SO fast that he couldn't slow down and walk. ;-)

So now I guess we REALLY need to baby proof the house!

DOMMIE'S FIRST STEPS!!

YES you read that correctly! Dommie took his first steps today/tonight!!!

My baby is such a big boy! He took a baby half step today at the villa and Nick was asleep. He didn't really believe us and he said it didn't count anyway since he only took one step forward and didn't bring the other foot forward after that.

So after dinner at Planet Hollywood, we went to their gift shop. We put Dommie down and he took two steps!! One foot and then the other so it officially "counts" to Nick!

My baby is SO big!

Next Few Days

Vacation is coming to an end. It really has been an amazing first family vacation. I've enjoyed every minute of it. Here's how the last few days have been.

Thursday - Magic Kingdom. It was GREAT! We did so much. We did a bunch of the "must do" rides. We started off on Splash Mountain which was a lot of fun. I had no idea how long the ride was before we got on it, but it goes through a whole story during the ride of the "Brer Rabbit". We had fun and, of course, got wet.

After Splash Mountain we moved on to the Pirates of the Caribbean. That was cool too even though it wasn't a roller coaster type ride, it was still cool. It was amazing to see how life like the statues were. Jack Sparrow looked exactly like Johnny Depp.

We then went to the Swiss Family Tree House, which isn't a ride at all. You just walk through the tree house, but I really enjoyed that. I loved that movie as a kid and walking through the tree house was pretty cool.

Then we wandered into "Tommorowland" to get fast passes for Space Mountain. The wait if you just got in line was a 40 minute wait and we didn't want to wait that long so we got the passes and went to the show "Monster's Inc Laugh Floor". That was actually really funny! It was an interactive comedy show.

After lunch we went to do some rides with Dommie. He apparently is NOT a thrill seeker! We started on the tea cups. He did ok but had to climb up into my arms to handle it. Next was Dumbo. He did not like that ride either. It went a little too fast for his taste. After Dumbo we got on "It's a Small World". Dommie LOVED this one. He was so fascinated by all the people and singing.

When we got off the ride we had to run back to Space Mountain to make it in time before our fast passes weren't good anymore. That was a good ride too. It was pitch black and had a lot of twists and turns. I liked it a lot.

After Space Mountain, we were pretty tired. We did a little shopping and then called it a night. Dommie was done and to be honest, so was I!

It was a great night though. After we put Dommie to bed, Ben and Mike stayed in with him and Nick and I went out to eat just the two of us. That was nice. A mini date night while on vacation. We went to the Black Angus Steak House. Delicious.

The boys were crazy and went to see Avatar at midnight. I slept. But they said it was awesome. They went to a theater on Universal Studios property and the theater was like the OmniMax and the whole movie was in 3-D. I will admit I'm slightly jealous. But I enjoyed my sleep too!

Friday - SHOPPING! It was a rainy rainy day so we hit up the outlets. Actually first we went to DownTown Disney, then we hit the outlets. I won't describe everything we got, but we did get some good deals. And I finally bought a second pair of jeans!! I now own TWO pairs of jeans! :)

Tonight for dinner we went to Planet Hollywood. Food was good and it was neat to see the memorabilia. I also had a fantastic Margarita!

The BEST part of today will be on the next post. It deserves a whole post of it's own. ;-)

It's so sad that vacation is almost over. I loved our first family vacation. Hopefully the next BIG vacation we do, we have more to our family. But don't think that means anything. We're hoping to do another BIG vacation in about 4 years!

First Half of Vacation

The baby is asleep, the boys are out drinking, so I thought I'd check in.

The first half of vacation has been great. No pictures yet, but I'll get them up early next week. Let's see if I can write everything down so I don't miss any of Dommie's first vacation.

Saturday - We got off to an early start. Luckily my parents kept Dom overnight so we didn't have to worry about him. We drove to Florissant and then my Mom dropped me, Nick, Dom and Ben off at the airport. Mike met us there.

Checking in to the flight was good. The check in lady got me and Nick bulk head seats so we had extra leg room and Ben an exit row, so that was great. The flight was ok. Pretty bumpy honestly and Dom didn't like it. He wanted to be down so badly. He slept for all of ten minutes in Nick's lap and then was pretty fussy the rest of the way. I felt really bad! But we all made it to Orlando in one piece.

We got our luggage and got in a cab. It was about a 20 minute drive to our hotel. And it is GORGEOUS! Nick and I bought a revolving time share and we used our "points" to stay here. It's beautiful. It is another company of time shares. If we promised to sit through their 90 minute presentation, then we got really cheap tickets to Disney, so we did. But that wasn't until Sunday...now I'm getting ahead of myself.

We couldn't check in yet so we went to the bar and grill. We ordered some food, some beers and settled in. Luckily Dom took a nap so we could all relax a bit. We stayed at the bar until 4. Then we got our room.

Our room is a 2 bedroom, 2 story villa. We have a full kitchen, a laundry room, a loft with basically a 3rd bedroom, a deck and a BBQ pit. It's so great. Nick and I have the master on the 1st floor. Mike has the bedroom on the second floor and Ben has the loft. It's working out really well. We got a crib put in our room for Dom. At first I was afraid of sleeping with him in the room but it's worked out fine so far.

Ok, on to Sunday. Sunday was the presentation. It was LONG. And they kept sending new people to try and sell us another time share. We were strong though. We held our ground! We left with nothing but a ticket for cheap Disney tickets! Go us!

The rest of the day we spent at the pool. Dommie LOVED the pool. So did Nick. In fact, he was so excited to get into the pool that he forgot he had my phone in his pocket. He jumped in and was in the pool for a good 5 minutes before realizing it too! But that's another story. We played in the pool for a long time and Dommie couldn't handle it anymore. We had to call it a night. That was Sunday.

Monday. We went to Epcot Center. This was a crazy day. Mike, Ben and I decided to drink a drink in EVERY "country" that Epcot has. So we started with Margaritas in "Mexico". Then we got beers in "Norway". Then more beers in "China". And even more beers in "Germany". And FYI, these aren't bottles of beer. They are 20 ounce draft beers. Then we got more beer in "Italy". We skipped "America". We've had Bud Light, so we moved on. We doubled up in "Japan" and got beer and sake. And lastly we got some beer in "Morocco". And then we had to call it a night. We missed France, United Kingdom, and Canada. We only rode one ride, the "Test Track", but it was a good one. We had fun. And Dommie was a good boy during the whole day.

That night we ordered fast food in (cuz you can totally do that at our resort!) and crashed.

Tuesday. It started off like a lazy day. I made us breakfast which I've done every morning, but I don't mind. I love it actually. I can't wait to cook and make meals for a big family! Then Mike and I went to the gym to work out. I've been cheating BIG ime on my diet so I needed to get some kind of workout in. Then we decided to go to the Blizzard Beach water park. It was AWESOME. Seriously. And I kind of hate water parks! It's set up like a ski resort and so much fun. I only did a few slides but they were great. We took Dommie on a slide kind of like Thunder River but only in that you are in a big raft. You sit on the ground and go down a big slide. Dominick was "just" big enough for it and we thought he might like it...we were WRONG! He hated it!! He screamed the whole time and climbed up on me so fast that I had to hold him in my lap and he screamed bloody murder the whole time down. I felt like the worst mom ever...we stuck to the kid section of the park from then on!

That night we BBQ'd and watched "The Hangover" on DVD. Hilarious! Then we called it a night.

Wednesday - Today. Today was quite the adventure for me and Mike. We decided to go to a Sprint Store and get me a new phone. Well it took 3 different Sprint Stores and a toll road but we finally got one that listened. The first time we went, the phone actually worked. Perfectly. So they told me I was crazy and sent me on my way. But right after we left, of course, the phone quit working. So we tried a different Sprint store, only to find that the first one we went to was the only one that does repairs. Oh and I forgot to mention that the first Sprint store we attempted to go to didn't exist and we were sent to a new one. So I guess technically we went to 4 Sprint Stores.

After going back to the one store, I was ticked. We had been gone for over 3 hours and I just wanted a phone. I barely told the guy what happened when he ran off to get me a new phone, free of charge. They didn't have my phone in stock, but they ordered me one and it is being shipped to Mike's as we speak. I can activate it over the phone Monday. And oddly enough, in the mean time, mine is now working like a charm. Weird.

Tonight we went to Zimmie's. A bar and grill here on our resort. It was karaoke night. We didn't sing but we listened to a bunch of people. Then Mike got brought up on stage to sound like a pirate and he basically got booed off the stage. It was hilarious. I have pictures. Don't worry!

And here I am. Sitting on the couch with the boys still drinking at karaoke and my baby asleep in the other room.

We are going to Magic Kingdom tomorrow and to the outlet malls on Friday. And then back to the Lou on Saturday.

It's been a great vacation so far. I can't wait to ride some rides tomorrow with Dommie! I'll take a TON of pictures tomorrow at Magic Kingdom.

Until next week! Have a great rest of the week!!

Countdown

I am sooo close to being on vacation it's nuts! I am now literally counting down the hours, minutes, seconds even. I can't wait to be in 80 degree weather and be able to sleep in (Dominick willing) and not even think about all the things I have to do here, for a full week. I'm not going to stress about work, about Christmas shopping, about anything. I'm going to enjoy myself and Dominick's first trip to Disney World.

Our plane takes off in 24 hours and 17 minutes...but who's counting?

Sshhhh

Dommie started this new thing, where he covers his ears if you are talking directly to him. At first I worried that he might be having ear issues but now I know he does it for an audience. When we talk he covers his ears, then he laughs when you laugh.

Nick's mom was talking to him on St. Nicholas day (we celebrate it every year with Nick's family) and every time she talked, he covered his ears. I have to admit it was pretty cute!

Here are some pictures of that night:

I can't believe it's already the holiday season!

WOAH!

I lost 6.4 lbs this week?!?!

My weight watchers leader and I picked my goal weight today. It's higher than I originally was thinking of my goal weight but I think it's more realistic for me to maintain. She said we can always change it if we have to.

So now I'm down a total of 21.2 lbs with just over 20 to go! Woohoo!

Good Search Banner

You may or may not have noticed the newest addition to my blog. I added a "Good Search" banner to the right. It's really easy to use. I made good search my home page and use it just like I use Google. Every time I enter a search, Good Search donates $.01 to St. Joan of Arc Catholic School in St. Louis. This is the school where a lot of neighborhood kids go to school and where Dominick will probably go. So if you can, and don't mind, add this as your new search engine. It's powered by Yahoo so it's basically a Yahoo search engine but raising money. You can always change it if you don't like it.

Thanks in advance! :)

Christmas Tree Farm

Here are a few pictures of our family at the Christmas tree farm we went to last Sunday:

We had a great time and definitely going back there next year if anyone wants to plan a mini trip next winter! :)

Thanksgiving

This past weekend has been a blur. It was so long and so busy and I can hardly remember everything we did. But I'm going to try!

Thursday:
Thanksgiving morning. We got up and got ready and headed out to brunch at Glen Echo to have Thanksgiving brunch with my Dad's side of the family. They have an amazing brunch that we go to every Thanksgiving and Easter and they didn't disappoint this year. The food was amazing. In fact, so good that I gained weight this week... :( But enough about that! Dominick even did really well. We pulled a high chair up to the table and he had turkey, cheese, crackers, asparagus, sweet potatoes, and the tiniest bit of pumpkin pie you can imagine.

My mom gave him a little "santa hat" and we got a few pictures of him and Cecilia wearing their hats together.

After brunch, we headed home and Dommie went down for a nap. A short nap. We didn't have too much time before heading to Thanksgiving #2! About 3:30 we headed to Nick's sister's house for their family Thanksgiving. The food there was also amazing. Probably another reason I gained weight. Dommie did good there too! He had a hot dog this time instead, along with strawberries, cheese, and some crackers. I had more turkey, more pumpkin pie, and more mashed potatoes!

We actually stayed there pretty late all just talking and then went home and right to bed. It was a good family filled Thanksgiving.

Friday: Nick had to work and Ms. Stella was off so I didn't go to spinning. Instead Dommie and I laid around the house and were lazy. Nick's mom called me around 11:30 and asked if I could take her to Target (she broke her foot) and I wasn't doing anything so I said I could. Nick called while we were getting ready and he decided to come with us. So the three of us piled in the car, picked up Nani and headed to Target. It wasn't too bad actually. Probably because we overheard the workers talking about how there were 700 people waiting for Target to open at 6am. I guess we missed the rush!

After shopping, Nani and Dom stayed home while Nick and I went to Qdoba to have a quick bite to eat...ok, maybe that's another reason I gained weight!

Friday night my sister and I took out my Momma to thank her for all the babysitting she helps us with. We took her to the Cork Wine Bar in Ferguson and it was SO good! We drank a lot of delicious wine (a bottle of red zinfandel and a bottle of pinot grigio) and we had some fantastic tapas (cheese fondue, garlic shrimp, bruschetta, hummus, and a feta cheese pizza). It was so good. And reasonably priced too! We got all that, plus 3 beers and a pear martini for under $130.00! That's really good in my book! We had a great time and I hope my Momma did too!

Saturday: Weight watchers...boo...I gained 4 1/2 pounds this week!! Gross!! But I'm still down 15 since I started so I guess that's something. I guess I knew this would happen. I didn't do well at all and I only went spinning 2 days last week. But still...gross. :) We didn't do much at our house on Saturday, but then Saturday night my mom watched Dom for a few hours and Nick and I went to the movies to see The Blind Side. It was SO good! I loved it. Such a great story.

Sunday: Sunday Funday! We got up very early and went to my cousin Nathan and his wife Annie's house. We loaded up into the car and headed out to a Christmas tree farm in Festus. We got there and loaded onto a trolley to go pick out our Christmas tree. We searched and found the perfect tree for us! Nick got down on the ground and sawed down our tree. Nathan and Annie found theirs too and we loaded them into Nick's truck and headed to Cracker Barrel for breakfast (hopefully I won't gain again this week, but if I do I can probably attribute part of it to this stop!).

After we got back to Nathan and Annie's, Annie took Dommie for me and I headed out to my Grandpa's house. It's a tradition in our family that all the grandkids go to my Grandpa's house and help decorate for Christmas. The girls put up the tree and all decorations in the house and the boys do the lights and nativity scene outside. I haven't gone in a few years, but I went again this year and I'm so glad I did. It was fun to spend time with the cousins and I think it meant a lot to my Grandpa. We got the house decorated and then my Grandpa made us all chocolate shakes. Yum!

We made plans to come back and make Christmas cookies at his house in December and I think he's excited about that too.

Last night, Nick and I did nothing but play with Dommie and watch Sunday night Football. It was great. A relaxing night to a LONG weekend!

(and in case you are wondering, I DID get up and go to spinning this morning!)

I hope everyone had a GREAT Thanksgiving weekend!! :)

42 Things That Change When You Have a Baby

I just read my friend Crystal Mueller's Blog and she had a post about this. I googled the article she was talking about and I think a lot of these things are SO true for myself. I copied the 42 things here and "bolded" the ones that are particularly true for me at this point. It truly is amazing how much your perspective changes!!

42 Things That Change When You Have a Baby:

What changes when you have a baby? A better question may be: What doesn't change? Here, writer and mom Rebecca Woolf lists her most notable post-baby observations. Then scroll down to read our favorite comments from readers about how their babies changed their lives.

1. You finally stop to smell the roses, because your baby is in your arms.

2. Where you once believed you were fearless, you now find yourself afraid.

3. The sacrifices you thought you made to have a child no longer seem like sacrifices.

4. You respect your body ... finally.

5. You respect your parents and love them in a new way.

6. You find that your baby's pain feels much worse than your own.

7. You believe once again in the things you believed in as a child.

8. You lose touch with the people in your life whom you should have banished years ago.

9. Your heart breaks much more easily.

10. You think of someone else 234,836,178,976 times a day.

11. Every day is a surprise.

12. Bodily functions are no longer repulsive. In fact, they please you. (Hooray for poop!)

13. You look at your baby in the mirror instead of yourself.

14. You become a morning person.

15. Your love becomes limitless, a superhuman power.

And some Comments from some Readers:

16. "You discover how much there is to say about one tooth."

17. "You finally realize that true joy doesn't come from material wealth."

18. "You now know where the sun comes from."

19. "You'd rather buy a plastic tricycle than those shoes that you've been dying to have."

20. "You realize that although sticky, lollipops have magical powers."

21. "You don't mind going to bed at 9 p.m. on Friday night."

22. "Silence? What's that?"

23. "You realize that the 15 pounds you can't seem to get rid of are totally worth having."

24. "You discover an inner strength you never thought you had."

25. "You no longer rely on a clock — your baby now sets your schedule."

26. "You give parents with a screaming child an 'I-know-the-feeling' look instead of a 'Can't-they-shut-him-up?' one." -AMEN AMEN AMEN!!

27. "Your dog — who used to be your 'baby' — becomes just a dog."

[Many readers begged to differ, saying things like, " I disagree with number 12. My dogs are my additional children," "Nothing about previous babies, whether two- or four-legged, changes when a new miracle comes along," "My dog will never be 'just a dog," and "This is sad to me. My dog is still my baby too."]

-I know a lot of people argued this one but I do see what the reader meant. I love my dog like crazy!! But before Dom, he was my BABY and I wanted to take care of him like crazy and do all these things with him. Now that Dommie is here, I still LOVE him, but he's my dog...

28. "You take the time for one more hug and kiss even if it means you'll be late."

-I never realized how long it could take someone to drop a kid off at daycare! I stay for at least 5-10 minutes every morning watching him get down and play with the other kids. I miss him the minute I get to my car. Even if he screamed the WHOLE way there! :)

29. "You learn that taking a shower is a luxury."

30. "You realize that you can love a complete stranger."

31. You find yourself wanting to make this world a better place.

32. If you didn’t believe in love at first sight before, now you do!

-This one I agree with to a certain extent. The first moment I saw Dom, I wasn't in love...let me explain. I had just struggled with a LONG labor and delivery and ended up with a c-section. When Dom was born I was throwing up from the drugs and shaking and just miserable. I didn't care when I saw him. All I wanted was a warm blanket and to go to recovery. I was so afraid of post partum depression. After my 3 hour stay in recovery and I was wheeled up to my post partum room and got to see Dom for the first time, THEN it was definitely LOVE at SECOND sight!

33. You start to appreciate Sesame Street for its intellectual contribution.

34. You have to quit watching the news because you see every story from a mother's perspective and it breaks your heart.

35. You just plain love life more - everything comes together and becomes better because of one tiny person and your love for them.

36. You finally find out the real reason you have those breasts.

-Haha

37. In response to #2 [above], I'd say that where you were once afraid, you're now fearless. I was always very timid and shy and let myself get walked all over … but now where my kid's concerned, I'll speak my mind and really connect with my inner "b"!

38. The support you get from other people surprises you, because the people giving it are not always the ones you'd expect.

39. Nothing is just yours any longer. You share EVERYTHING!

40. No matter what you've accomplished in life, you look at your child and think, "I've done a GREAT job!"

41. You want to take better care of yourself for your child.

42. You can have the most wonderful conversation using only vowel sounds like "ahhh" and "oooo."

It is crazy how much things change and how grateful I am every day for those changes.

I love you Dommie!!

I lost weight this past week?!?!! I don't know how. I seriously ate horrible the beginning of this week! We went out of town and I didn't do anything right...

But still, I lost weight!! I lost another 3.4 lbs! I'm down 19.4 total in the last 5 weeks! Which means I hit my first major weight loss goal at WW.

19.4 down, 27.2 to go! This week will be tough, but I'm pushing for a .6 lb loss! I want to hit 20 lbs down! Wish me luck!

New Tricks

I need to get some video on Dom because he is just so much fun right now!

He has a few new tricks.
1) He finally does SO BIG! We would try to get him to raise his arms every time we asked how big he was, but he never wanted to play that game. He finally does it! And it's SO cute!
2) He does this hilarious "Hulking out move". He got it from Nick. When Nick gets frustrated he balls his hands into fists and "grrrr's" under his breath. Well, Dommie does that now too. It shouldn't be as funny as it is. It actually should be scary because it looks like this kid will have a temper. But it's so funny. Sometimes when Nick or I are driving and Dommie is in the back in his car seat we grrr at him and in the rearview mirror you just see these 2 little fists shoot up and hear Dommie growl back. Too cute!
3) And finally, he stands on his own now! He still WON'T take any steps, but he'll crawl over to you and just stand up.

My baby is growing up so fast!

Cheating

So now that I've finally updated you on the trip, let me tell you how badly I cheated on weight watchers...I am allotted 24 points to eat in 1 day. On Monday, the day after the game and our drive home, I consumed a CRAZY HIGH 92.5 points!! EEK!

We had Cracker Barrel for breakfast (nothing diet about eggs, hash brown casserole, cinnamon biscuits, bacon, and ham!) and then we had Wendy's for lunch (man I love those Frosty's!) and finally Domininos for dinner.

I've never felt so sick in my life. My stomach hurt so badly after all that bad food...And I think I gained about 5 lbs that weekend...it was gross. Sad. Disgusting.

Hopefully I did enough working out since I got back to maybe NOT gain weight this week! Keep your fingers crossed for my weigh in tomorrow!

Amazing Anniversary

This past weekend was one of the best of my life. (Although the whole time there was the down side that we were without our baby who didn't make the trip to Indy).

Sunday morning:
We got up, packed and got Dommie ready to go to his Nani's house for the next day and a half. We brought him over to Nick's mom's around 8:30 am and made sure he had everything. Then about 9:00 we got on the road. We made pretty good time for stopping a few times and got to Indy around 1:00 St. Louis time or 2:00 Indy time.

In Indy:
We went to the hotel bar and grill and had some lunch while watching the early football games. After lunch we went up to our room and realized Nick didn't request a king size bed. We had two double beds. Nick felt so bad but I thought it was great. We both took our own bed! We sleep in the same bed at home. This way we got our own space, own pillows and own blanket. It was fabulous! I took a nap since I haven't been sleeping too well and Nick watched some more football. Around 6:00, Nick woke me up and we got ready. Neither one of us were hungry yet so we didn't get dinner and decided to just eat at the game.

The walk to the game was interesting...to say the least. We were a little less than a mile from the Lucas Oil Stadium so we starting walking. We crossed the street as soon as we left the hotel and I'm glad we did. A large drunk man walking on the opposite side of the street from us started screaming at us. At first we thought he was kidding, because Nick was wearing a Tom Brady jersey and I was wearing a Peyton Manning jersey and we knew we'd be getting trouble from the fans. But this guy wasn't kidding. He was very very serious. First he was just yelling silly things like, "Oh H*** no! You aren't walking with Tom Brady!!" and I kind of smiled, laughed and waved, because I thought he was kidding. Then the guy went crazy. "You aren't a real fan! You should take off that jersey and burn it!! I'll rip it off and burn it!!" etc. etc. Nick and I walked a little faster from that point on!

But the rest of the walk was fun. The atmosphere was amazing! People kept giving us trouble and saying things like, "Wow. We never thought we'd see Peyton Manning and Tom Brady holding hands!" And "You two can't be married. Peyton Manning and Tom Brady? Those are too big of differences. It'll never work." And just having fun.

When we got to the stadium, I was in awe. It's gorgeous. Such an amazing stadium. And the crowd was going crazy just being there! The game hadn't even started yet. We made our way to our seats which were great and sitting on our seats were big signs that said GO COLTS! We were supposed to hold these up when they flashed to the crowd for the opening credits on NBC. Nick immediately ripped his up, but I waved mine proudly!

The game was, well, also amazing. You had to watch it. So many people I talked to fell asleep and didn't see the end. It was nuts. The crowd was nuts. The coaches were nuts. Everything just nuts! The Colts, MY Colts were down 13 points with under 5 minutes to play. I think a lot of people went to bed around then. I know a LOT of people left the stadium then (which was not received well by the rest of the crowd, let me tell you!). Peyton Manning was his brilliant self and scored a touchdown with just over 2 minutes to play. It was at this point that I turned to Nick and thanked him for such a wonderful present. I literally said, "No matter what happens, this was an awesome game and I'm so glad we're here". He was a little smug when he replied, "This is an awesome game...Tommy Terrific!" (which is what he calls Tom Brady to really piss me off...)

The Colts kicked off to the Patriots and they didn't get much of a return. They had a crazy set of plays then. They got a few yards on the first down. Called a timeout. Got a few more yards. Then it was 3rd and 2 on their own 29 yard line. They went for it, of course and my Colts stopped them. But here's the weird part. The whole stadium thought that they would punt. I was nervous because I thought that there wouldn't be enough time to march back down the field and score again. But the Pats called their 3rd and final time out and decided to go for it on 4th and 2. What?!?! Are you crazy??

I was terrified they would get it and crush my hopes of a come from behind victory, but my Colts were amazing. They STOPPED them on 4th and 2 and the Pats turned the ball over on downs. Then my man Peyton only had to get 29 yards for a touchdown and a 1 point lead. Well, come on, it's PEYTON MANNING!! Of COURSE he could get 29 yards! He scored a touchdown to Reggie Wayne with only 13 seconds left.

Amazing! Perfect! Wonderful! Which words to use?! It was just awesome. It was a great trip and ended perfectly with a come from behind victory over the PATRIOTS!

That night people gave Nick SO much trouble! We went to the bar in our hotel to catch a late night bite and I think Nick should've taken his Brady jersey off, because no one gave him a minute's peace! They were high five-ing me all night long though!

There's probably more that I'm leaving out but I started this post on 11-17-09 and I'm still working on it on 11-20-09 so I'm going to stop.

GO COLTS! Still undefeated!! :-)

Happy Anniversary

Nick and I are headed out in 10 short hours to go to Indy to see the Colts play the Patriots. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. I haven't packed or anything yet, but I doubt I'll be able to sleep! Eek!

Go Peyton Manning!!

I still lost weight!!

Even after all the cheating I did this week on my diet, I still lost weight! I'm down 2 lbs this week. Down 16 lbs total. Woohoo!!

The craziest day ever

was yesterday.

We decided to have Nick's sister in law do some pictures of Dominick and we were doing those yesterday at 3:30. Well, Nick was off for Veteran's Day and was going to get Dom and head over to the park and I would meet up after work. My mom was bringing Cecilia and my sis was going to meet there after work too. Well Nick got tied up so I rushed out of work to get Dom, change him into a cute outfit and meet at the park. When I got home and changed Dom, Nick was pulling up so he just rode with us.

The photo shoot went great. Dom got a little annoyed toward the end so we didn't get a good family shot but the ones of him I'm sure will be fantastic. Cecilia even smiled for a few! So that was good. When we left to head home, Nick said he wanted to go out to eat and have a nice night out. I said sure. But that wasn't in the cards.

We got home and Dom was tired. So tired but he was fighting it. He wouldn't go down. So we kept him up. I figured he would be up all night, fussy but up, and then sleep all night. WRONG.

Around 6:30 I knew he had to go down, even if just for an hour. So I changed him into some pj's and put him down. And he slept...and slept...and slept...

Nick and I watched the CMA's (which were amazing) and finally decided on getting Taco Bell/McDonald's for our "nice night out". I went and got the food and came home and finished watching the CMA's. At 10:30 we headed up to bed. Dominick was still out like a light, but I knew he needed an overnight diaper. So we got him up and changed him and gave him a small bottle while he was up. So far so good.

He did go right back down. Until around midnight. When he lost his binky. So Nick went in and put it back in his mouth. Back to bed. Then comes 1 am. Lost his binky again and now he's really annoyed. My turn. I go in, put his binky back in and go back to bed. That wasn't enough. I went in and rocked him in the rocker until he fell back asleep. That worked until about 4 am. Nick's turn. Nick went and did the same thing. Back to bed.

5:30 rolls around. We decide to give Dom a bottle and change him. He had a soaked diaper and drank his bottle and then he was up. But we were not. So we put him back in bed with some toys and books. Dom played in his crib until I got him ready to go at 7.

I have no idea what this will do to his sleep schedule. Hopefully not much! I'm really hoping that tonight will be a good night and we'll be back to normal.

I'll let you know as soon as I see some of the pictures! ♥ ♥

Wordless Wednesdays

Rest in Peace Don. We miss you!!

Working Out

I cheated really bad with my diet on Saturday and Sunday, so I've tried to make up for it by being really good this week and working out. It's getting rough and making the week take so much longer! I'm ready for it to be Friday!

Sunday we played in a kickball tournament. Unfortunately we lost our first game, so that wasn't too much of a workout, but playing in the sun for a little over an hour really will take it out of you!

Monday I went spinning with my sis for about an hour.
Tuesday I went running with a friend for about a mile and a half.
Wednesday I went spinning with my sis for about an hour.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll run again and Friday I'll spin again. Maybe Saturday I'll do the 30 day shred DVD again.

Then Sunday it's all about relaxing and watching the Colts beat the Pats!! Go Manning!

On a happier note

My friend Beth got a baby!!! They have been trying to adopt for awhile and they finally got their baby! Beautiful baby Jubilee. I am SOO happy for them I can't even begin to describe it.

You can read her blog on the right - A+A adopt a baby.

Congrats Beth, Andrew and new Baby Jubilee!

Major Vent....Sorry in advance

I have to get this out. I know this is probably not the best place for it, since it's public, but I don't care. I have to get it out and just complain and be mad and feel sorry for myself.

Many of you know the whole story about my brother. He's ten years older than me and in the Navy. He and I used to be very close. He got married in 1997. He was then transferred to Hawaii and I visited him a few times there. Everything was great. From Hawaii he moved to Florida and I visited him there. Everything is still great. Finally, from there he moved to California and I even visited him there. I'm his first daughter's godmother.

From there things turn sour. He got sent to Iraq and Afghanistan and things happened and all of a sudden, he wasn't allowed to talk to us anymore. We don't know what changed, but all of a sudden we were the 'bad guys'. No more talking to my brother.

I got engaged in 2005. I emailed my brother and asked if he would come. He emailed me back and promised me that he would "never miss" his little sister's wedding. Fast forward to the NIGHT before my wedding. He calls my cell phone to tell me that he won't be coming in (no kidding) and the reason is his wife hurt her neck and can't watch the kids by herself. Fine. Whatever. I don't believe him but I don't care. He's missing my wedding but he called and I'll try to be the bigger person and accept this. He told me to call him when I got back from my honeymoon and we'd talk more.

Well Nick and I waited three weeks to go on our honeymoon so I called him back the next weekend instead of waiting. His father in law answers. I ask if I can talk to my brother and he tells me that I can't because my brother and his wife flew to Annapolis to go to his reunion...hurt neck?? Can't travel?? So now I'm pissed...

Fast forward to the next year. My sister's wedding. My brother came to her wedding. He apologized for not being at mine and we cried together and I forgave him. Again. He told me things were going to be different. Sure. And stupidly, I believed him.

A little less than a year later, well about 9 months later, my sister was about to have a baby. I called my brother and my sister in law answered. I told her hello and as soon as she found out who I was she handed the phone to my brother, extremely pissed off. My brother got on the phone and told me "I got him in trouble" and he would call me later. Again, I believed him. But that never happened.

I've sent care packages to Iraq each time he was stationed there. I've spent hundreds of dollars on his kids for Christmas. I've tried calling and emailing and I never get a response. I thought I was done. But he's my brother, and I always forgive him if there's a chance.

Fast forward again to about a week ago...I am on Facebook. I searched for my brother, just for fun. He's on there. I never thought he would be. I saw his picture. He was smiling and looking like he was having a good time. It felt weird, like he was so close. I asked to be his friend. For a week, there was no reply...today I learned he declined me...his own sister. He declined me. I can't even begin to process this. He's never seen Dominick. He has no idea what he looks like or how big he is. He doesn't know that he's almost walking and talking all the time and just so perfect. He's only met Nick once. I've only seen him twice since my junior year of college. In almost 5 years, I've seen him twice.

I'm so hurt I can't even begin to describe it. I'm officially done. I have nothing left to give. I've tried for more than 5 years and I've gotten nothing but hurt out of it. Technically he's still my brother...but emotionally, I'm done. I'm very thankful to my sister, my parents, my husband, my mother in law and my amazing 3 sister in laws and 5 brother in laws. I'm happy to have 5 beautiful nieces and 1 awesome nephew here in town. I'm lucky to have amazing, generous friends. And I'm extremely thankful for my perfect son.

Those people I just mentioned, that is my family. He's the one missing out, and I can't try to fix that anymore. I can't change the way life is. I can only accept it and make the most of it. I will do that from now on.

Thank you to the amazing friends and family I have in my life. You all mean more to me than you'll ever know.

Dom's Stats

I just realized I don't think I posted his 9 month stats. If I already did, ignore this post.

Length - 31" (97th %tile)
Weight - 23 lbs. 12 oz. (90th %tile)
Head - I don't remember the number but he was just over the 25th %tile)

So my little man is still growing like a weed. Everywhere except his head! :) Hopefully that is no indication as to how big his brain will be. :P

I'll be back

sometime. Sorry my posts are random and then just stop. Blogging is one of my favorite things to do but I'm just "blah" right now.

My Grandpa's sister is in the hospital and not doing well. We just had a funeral for my Grandpa's brother and now his sister is really sick. I'm just so scared that something will happen to my Grandpa and I'm so sad for Uncle Bud and so worried for Aunt Therese.

I had a mini-breakdown yesterday. I was sitting at my desk when one of our drivers came in. He obviously had NO idea what was going on with me, but he started talking to us about random stuff, like usual, and he brought up nursing homes and dead people. Then he kept going on and on about dead people. I couldn't stay in the room. I ran to the bathroom and just cried for a minute. I don't usually let myself do that so I will admit I felt better.

We are busy bees this weekend, and next weekend too, really. Tonight we are celebrating my Mother in Law's birthday. Then tomorrow is my next weigh in. I was bad this week, so hopefully I didn't gain weight! We also have a house warming party to go to at night. Then Sunday is our kickball tournament. That will be fun. Next weekend we have Late Night (an alumni vs. present students from the basketball teams at my old college) and then Sunday morning we leave for Indy!! To go and see the Colts play the Pats. Happy anniversary to us!!

So I will be back. Eventually.

I'm lovin' it!

Weight Watchers that is!!

I really am loving it. I've cheated a few times but that's why I love it. Weight watchers isn't a "diet". It really is a lifestyle. And I'm making better overall decisions.

I had my second weigh in on Halloween. I am very happy to report that I lost another 5 lbs! I've lost 11.2 lbs and I've lost over 5% of my starting weight! I redid my measurements last night and I've also lost 1/2" in my hips, thighs and bust and I've lost 3" in my waist!!

I'm well on my way to reaching my goal. 11.2 lbs down and only 35.4 lbs to go!

My Uncle Bud

My Uncle "Bud" - or Uncle Paul (my Grandfather's brother), passed away this weekend. It's sad for so many reasons. Not only will he be missed, and he certainly will, but it makes me so afraid for my own Grandpa. Uncle Bud and Grandpa are not that far apart in age. And Uncle Bud wasn't sick! He was fine, we thought. But he went to sleep and never woke back up.

I'm thankful it seems as if it were peaceful. He didn't seem to suffer at all. I'm also thankful we did a big family picture a few summers ago. My grandpa has many siblings and Uncle Bud is the first one to pass away. We did one big family picture with all of the siblings in bright white shirts and then all of their immediate families in a specific color. My family all wore gray. It was such a neat picture with the whole family. And I have a BIG family. My dad has 52 first cousins. It's huge.

I know now that we need to make a conscious effort to go and see my Grandpa and Grandma as often as we can. I don't want to have any regrets. Today is my Grandma's actual birthday. We are going to my parents for dinner to spend the evening with her on her day. I know we need to take lots of pictures so we can look back at remember all the good times and share it with others.

Good-bye Uncle Bud. You will be missed.

Halloween!!

Well Saturday was Dominick's first Halloween! We traveled all over St. Louis for it too. We started off by going to my parent's house in Florissant so they could see him. We went at the same time as my sister so they got to see both grandkids at once.

Dominick was the lion and Cecilia was a bunny!

After being at Mom and Dad's for a bit, we headed off to see Dommie's Great Grandma. She also lives in North County so it didn't take long to get there. Here's a picture of Dominick and his Great Grandma:

After staying there for a bit, we headed to Clayton to go to Nick's sister's house. That's where Dominick's other Grandma, his Nani, was. We stopped in there and took a few pictures with Dom's cousins.

After we went to all the houses we could squeeze in, we went back to my sister's and had dinner at her house. It was her mother-in-law's birthday and my sister made ribs. They were delicious! She also made a carrot cake from scratch. Also very delicious!

All in all, it was a great First Halloween with Dom!

Back to Spinning

I asked my sister what she wanted for her birthday (which is Wednesday) and she told me she wanted me to take a spinning class with her. We went to a few classes awhile back but I was going to have to pay too much for the few classes that were left. A new session started today so I went with her and signed me up.

It's the same time as last session, M-W-F mornings from 5:30-6:15 am. It was easier than I remember from before but I get so tired! I'm in better shape but since I'm eating less and losing weight, it felt like I was so weak at the end of it. Hopefully I can keep getting stronger and within a few weeks I'll be feeling great after the classes again!

We'll try alternating the spinning with the 30 day shred DVD...I'll let you know how that goes!!

Praying for Stellan

Get Your Map!
Powered by Platial

I noticed on my friend Crystal's blog, a post called Pray for Stellan. I clicked on her blog and then followed her link to the original post about Stellan. It broke my heart. A poor family is sitting in the hospital on their youngest child's first birthday. Please say prayers for this family and young boy that he gets better soon. I can't even begin to imagine being in that situation. My little boy means the WORLD to me and my heart breaks for them just to have to experience this.

Please say lots of prayers. You can click on Crystal's blog (on the right) for more info.

Thanks.

Bring it on...

I decided that while I'm feeling extremely motivated, I'm going to register for the St. Louis half marathon in April. It will be perfect. Nick and I were thinking about thinking about more kids sometime next May or June, so training for this half marathon will get me in good shape if we do start really thinking about that then...did that make sense? :)

I'm already registered and it's paid for, so no backing out now. The half marathon is Sunday, April 11 at 7am. So that means training officially starts in about 3 months. But I think I'll start training earlier than that.

But it's done. I can't change it. And I'm excited!

Grammie's 83rd Birthday

My Grandma is turning 83 on Monday and we had a birthday party for her this past weekend at my Aunt and Uncle's house in Herman, MO. They live on a lot of land and it was gorgeous out. We were able to hang out by a fire, roast marshmallows, play badminton and just catch up.

Here are a few pictures from Saturday:

Hopefully I get some really good ones of Dommie and his cousins on Halloween and can post those over the weekend!
