Christmas Tree Cutting!

It's that time of year again!! Christmas tree time!!

We've made it a tradition that every year, we go and cut down our own Christmas tree. This is our third year doing it and we always have such a blast!

This year we went back to Meert Christmas Tree Farm off highway 55. We got there at the perfect time. We went the day after Thanksgiving (also a tradition) and got there about 9:15 am. This was their first day open for the season and they opened at 9 am. We were one of the first ones there.

We got up and got Dom dressed and ready (all bundled up!!) and got in our cars. Yes plural. We were picking up Angela, Andrew and Cecilia and then on to get Nathan and Annie. We took our truck - to load the three trees and take two adults - and the Durango - to take the two kiddos and the remaining 4 adults.

We got to Angela and Andrew's around 8:15 ish. We loaded them up and headed over to Nathan and Annie's. We picked them up and stopped for gas (thanks Nathan and Annie!!) and were on our way!

When you get there, they give you a hand saw and a tag. Then you load a wagon

and they drive you out to the various locations and you pick your tree. There are ribbons on each tree that tell you how much each tree costs. The prices are REALLY reasonable!!

We went out to the lot and looked at the different trees. We found a perfect one and Nick got down on the ground and started cutting. But not before a few pictures first!

After Nick cut it down, he (with Dom's help) dragged it to the tree area where the wagon picks up the cut trees. Then we waited for Nathan and Annie and Angela and Andrew to pick out their trees. After all the trees were cut and brought to the area, we loaded back into the wagon and headed back to the main house of the tree farm.

We went back into the main area and looked at the trains and sat on the rocking chairs. Then we loaded back into the cars to head back home.

This is becoming such a great tradition for us. We love picking out our tree and cutting it down ourselves and then stopping at Cracker Barrel on the way home. It's the perfect ending to a perfect morning!

Here is a picture of our tree at the house. Not decorated yet, but we'll get there!!
