Halloween 2010

Last year we did a lot of running around on Halloween and this year was no different! Nick got up EARLY and drove to Farmington to go golfing with Andrew. He promised he'd be home by 11 or 12 at the absolute latest...he got home at 1:30. :)

At 2:15, we woke Dom up from his nap and got our things together and headed out to Great Grandma's house. Angie and Andrew were meeting us there. Dominick was Elmo and Cecilia was a pumpkin.

We got there about 3:00ish and stayed and played for a bit. Here are a few pictures of the kids with Great Grandma.

Begging for Candy! :)

Getting that Candy

Posing with Great Grandma

Playing with Great Grandma

After we left Great Grandma's house, we went over to my parents house. Dommie was out of his costume by then, so we didn't really trick or treat there. We just visited and read some books and played with a few toys. We stayed there for about 45 minutes and then headed home.

We got home and basically just reorganized. We restocked the diaper bag. We let the dogs back in and fed them (we left them out all morning/afternoon). Then we changed Dommie's diaper and got back into the costume's and headed over to "Uncle" Mike's parents house.

We only stuck our head in there since we had to get out to Nick's sister's house quickly after that, but we were able to stay and chat for a few minutes at least. And of course, get a picture with Elmo and Uncle Mike!

Kind of smiling...not really excited about this whole Halloween thing anymore! :)

After we left there, we headed straight to Nick's sister's house. When we got there, they had already left to go trick or treating. We caught up to them a few houses later and started trick or treating. At first, Dommie didn't like this whole walking from house to house and trick or treating bit... BUT after a few houses, Dom really got the hang of it. He would stick his little bag out and and say "Trick Treat". And people would hold out the bucket of candy. He did really good to only take "one!" like Mommy kept telling him and then put that piece in his bag. I think he had a blast!

And of course, he was polite and always said "Thank you!". :)

After awhile, Dom's bag was almost full and Mommy and Daddy were TIRED. We headed back to Kate and Dave's and settled in for a bit.

Dommie and Jilly started in on the candy and just playing on the porch, while Sophie got some more energy and was ready to head out again. Before she left, we got a few pictures of the kids all in their costumes.

Checking out the pumpkin

One good one before the crying started (Just Dom cried)

Jilly started cheering and jumping up and down and Dom gave up and slid onto the ground.

We also got Dom to try and eat some REAL food, like chicken, cheese, and grapes, but that didn't work too well since there was so much candy around. We got some nutrition in him and let him play for a bit.

After a little while longer, we decided it was time to head home. We got Dom to take a quick picture with Nani before changing his clothes:

and then we changed into PJ's and got a sippy of milk. We headed home and got ready for bed. I don't think we actually got home until almost 9:30 or so...it was a LONG and exhausting day.

We've been lucky. Dominick has been here for two Halloweens. The first was on a Saturday, and the second was this year, on a Sunday. We got to do everything and see everyone we wanted to. I don't know how we're going to do that next year when it's on a Monday...I guess we'll have to visit some people on Sunday! :)

Oh and A funny story:

While we were trick or treating, there was a group of about 7th grade girls coming up to a house we just finished at. One of the girls said,
"Oh my God!! An Elmo!! Can I hug him?? I have to!! He's just SO cute!!"...
I didn't know what to say, so I stuttered and said,
"Um...sure?"
So she bent down and gave Dominick a big hug.
Sophia (my 7 year old niece) said to me,
"So that was pretty weird, right Aunt Meghan?"
I laughed...and I had to agree.
"Yup. That was kind of weird, Soph!"

What a fun night. :-)

How cute! What's more adorable than little kids in their costumes? :) Your Halloween sounds like our holidays...family pinball! Fun, but exhausting.
