Bathroom Update

Well, we still have a LONG way to go, but we're getting there!!!

Roger, our favorite carpenter, is done with his part. The walls are all drywalled, taped ready to paint. Nick has the lights in the ceiling and the fan hooked up. We have the plumbing in for the shower.

Next came the decisions...

Thursday we had a guy come to our house and show us some marble samples. We thought we liked the gray/white/darker colors combo. So we narrowed it down to three samples. The guy generously offered to let us keep the samples until we decided which ones we wanted to use. So we did. On Sunday, Nani took Dominick to see Barney (another quick post to follow) and Nick and I had some free time. So we headed to Lowes. We used to be Home Depot people but their service is getting so bad, we switched.

We looked at vanities first. Everything is basically brown. They are varying shades of brown, but still brown. So we headed over to the floor tile section to start there instead. EVERYTHING is brown there too. NOTHING could go with any of the marbles we picked out. So we had to re-evaluate things. We could do custom order floor tile....for like $14.99 a SQUARE FOOT. Or we could switch our color scheme.

Luckily, Lowes had the same brand of marble we were already looking at, so we walked back over to the marble and picked a few new samples and went back to the floor tile. We found a tile that we LOVE and it matched one of the marbles perfectly. We decided to buy one small tile to just see it in the room and compare it to the tub and see it in the light of the room (LED lights in the bathroom). We went back over to the vanities and found a vanity we LOVE that matches too. :)

So here's what we THINK we're getting for the first floor bathroom:

Tile:

The main "rust" colored tile will be the main tile of the bathroom. The mosaic tile will be on the floor also, but around the fixtures. By the tub, the toilet, and the vanity. The whitish/ivory piece leaning up there is the marble we like for the tub/shower walls.

What do you think?

Next, the vanity we like is this one:

We held up the tiles and marble to it in the store and really liked it. We aren't for SURE on anything yet. We are going to go to an actual bathroom/plumbing place and look at other vanities (Lowes only had like 4 on display) but this is what we like so far.

Decisions decisions!!
